History of Norwood Cricket Club
Norwood Cricket Club has a long and distinguished History and has been playing cricket in Dundee since the 1930s.
Norwood CC
now plays in the Strathmore Union League Division 3. Norwood won the Division 2
title in the early 80s.
In the
last few years Norwood has headed the Division 2 league for much of the season
but has narrowly missed out on the title. We finished runners-up in
1999.
After
finishing runners up and top three for several seasons, Norwood finally and
deservedly won the league again in 2003.
Since the late 1980s some of the side has been made up of Dundee University Staff members recruited from Dundee University Staff Cricket Club.
Our home ground is the old University pitch at Downfield (just off the Kingsway, opposite Halfords/MFI/Tesco).
We play
Saturday and Sunday league or friendly fixtures on most weekends from late
April to early September.
We
also participate in the mid-week Two Counties Cup tournament which we won in
1994 (Team Photo).
Norwood
are a sociable side, for whom enjoyment is at least as important as acievement.
We
have recently taken to touring and have visited Sunderland (1995), the Isle of
Bute (1996) and Milan (1998)
If you are
interested in playing for Norwood (either regularly or occasionally) please

If you
are feeling rusty, we have pre-season nets at the
University sports Hall during the University Easter holiday period.
